Precious Metal: Copper wedding ideas

Goodbye gold and silver...hello copper! I can dream, right? Silver and gold will actually always remain top wedding colors but, if you want to try something a little different, this rich color may be just what you are looking for!

Choosing a wedding color completely sets up the theme of your wedding and once you have the color everything starts falling into place!  Copper can be either natural and rustic or elegant and dramatic.

Tulle and lace were the inspirations for Midsummer Bride, this year's capsule collection from my Dioresque line.  From the purest whites to tea-dyed tulles, these full silhouettes have layers and yards of skirt. The bodices are adorned in lace motifs, some shirred and pleated in tulle. All the dresses you see here are available through Amy-Jo Tatum Bride and my Etsy store and can be customized
THE VALERIE DRESS.  5 layers of tulle skirt over a rose beige China silk lining.  Chantilly lace bodice with scalloped border on the neckline and skirt.  The deep V back is accented by a row of silk shantung buttons. Gray satin tie belt.

VICTORIANA AND BEYOND . . .

I found all these delish images on Etsy Wedding.  Adding a few touches from times past, you can go a little as in one of these sweet little headpieces from Arisa Fukumoto, or really go all out in one of the Edwardian dresses below.

DIY Bride: Make your own bubble favors

I came across this tutorial on how to make your own bubble tin favors and wanted to share - how adorable are these? Originally, this was blog post showed up on Hostess with the Mostess for a 2nd birthday party - but I thought it would be great for a wedding too (and easy!). Have fun with this!

BUBBLE TIN PARTY FAVORS

Materials
•
6” Tin Cans, found at Specialty Bottle
•
Pink Pipe Cleaners, found at Michaels
•
Bubble Solution, found at iParty or you can make your own bubble solution
• Raffia, found at Michaels
• Full Sheet Label Paper, found at Office Depot
• Computer / Color Printer
• Paper Cutter
Instructions:
1.
Download and print out the template for the bubble labels and trim just under and above the pink lines (so that the lines show) and horizontally at the end of the pink lines.
2. Adhere to the tins using as light of a touch as possible so you don’t leave fingerprints.
3. To create the pipe cleaner wands, shape the top of the wand into a circle, then twist the end around the handle.
4. Measure your raffia to about 18.” Holding the pipe cleaner in place, wrap the raffia around the wand and the tin, tying in a bow at the front.
5. Fill the tins about 1/2 full with the bubble solution

COULD RED EVER BE THE NEW WHITE?

Natalie in Red

Get a load of this before you head out to look at dozens of virginal white dresses. Did you know in some cultures white is the color of mourning? That's right. It seems ice and snow go hand and hand with freezing to death and/or the void of nothingness. There are traditions that prize red for its warmth and beauty, christening it the color of festivals and celebration. To Russians the word red relates to beauty. In China this color symbolizes fortune and joy, and is still traditional with brides. For some of us red evokes the brilliant monochromatics found in spring and summer gardens; to others fire and sensuality. This vibrant work from Annie McKelvey of Eleven Orchids Photography puts red in the realm of a real style option for a bride. Might this exciting and passionate color become the new white somewhere in the near future? While I doubt the majority of women want to replace the clean essence white represents, red is and will continue to be a popular option for brides for both summer and winter.
