On the Calendar

Saw this video advertising for the Jay's Bridal show in September and we could not wait to share.

We will be there and cannot wait to meet all the up-and-coming brides!

A HEAD OF THE TIMES

Never have brides had so much leeway when it comes to headwear. 2010 marks a time when choosing you put on top of your head will add pizazz to your overall look. Thanks to those designers getting creative with netting, florals and plumes, the bride has so, so many options.

Oscar de la Renta

Pancake hat wrapped in netting.
Jenny Packham

A little bit of vintage to go with the evening gown look.

Lia McNairy and Antonio Gual

Light and airy, a headband of feathers would work for a Spring as well as Winter wedding.

Carolina Hererra

One of the great introductions this year by Carolina Herrera is the straw hat (she put out several) wrapped in ivory point d'spirit netting. Stunning . . .

Platinum

Getting ready for winter weddings this hat is a toasty charmer as well as chic.

Carolina Herrera

Another Carolina Herrera revival: The plume. It proffers a touch of the sophisticate as well as pure whimsy. Plumes are particularly flattering for the petite bride wanting to add some length to her look. Try a plume also if you're going with more of an evening gown look.

Amsale

This headband would pair up nicely with Amsale's clean-lined gowns

Betsy's Bloomers: The Blog

Apparently one of our other favorite florists, The Plant Shoppe, also recently started a blog. We love her real wedding flower inspiration and real wedding flower board.

How can you resist that kind of floral inspiration? Love it!

HOW TO SAY THANK YOU TO YOUR BRIDESMAIDS

Though there's a whole panacea of gift ideas in these sets, sometimes the best gift you can give your bridesmaid and/or maid of honor is the dress itself. I had a single bridesmaid in my wedding amongst a pack kids in taffeta. Other than a few purple sashes and tartans, it was an all white wedding with my maid in a simple white silk dupioni sheath. That dress was a gift. A year later when her boyfriend proposed, she wore that same bridesmaid dress for her own wedding. I was totally honored. Thus, I would never have asked her to pay for the dress and to this day she claims it was her greatest wedding present.

Customary gift from bride to her maids is a stunner piece of jewelry. You can also say thank you in the form of perfume, Ray Bans and whole gamut of goodies found below.

Unforgettable Events: The Blog

Excited to announce that one of our favorite florist and design specialists, Dan Hathcock, now has a blog for his business, Unforgettable Events.

Now you can keep up-to-date on his most recent projects and stunning work!
Not to mention all the floral inspiration! Gorgeous, right?

PURITY

For brides looking for simple silhouettes in magnificent fabric look to
Acquachiara an Italian design house run by the talented Daniela Basile. Her philosophy is about as close to my own as any designer I've found yet: She believes the right gown is worn like a second skin. These seem not only to be worn as a skin as much as the bride's whole essence . . .

Inspiration Sweetness

We were tickled when Krystal from the K Gallery e-mailed us this board from Table 6 Productions. I would have never thought to make a board full of little flower girl cuteness, but isn't it adorable?

Check out their blog for sources and lots more inspiration!

New Kind of Wedding Dance

Alright, so you have probably all already seen this, but in case you haven't...

How shocked would your guests be if you did this at your ceremony!? This is seriously mixing things up. Love it!

STALKING THE LOOK BOOKS: YOLAN CRIS

A little bit vintage and part ethnic, Spanish designer Yolan Cris works magic with lace and satin. Totally want to find out where he gets such great lace . . . .

Dance Me, Daddy Giveaway

Thrilled to announce that we have three copies of the beautiful, hardcover book "Dance Me, Daddy" to give away to our readers. This book, written by Cindy Morgan, is based on the Point of Grace song "King of the World" -- which, by the way, would make a perfect father-daughter dance for any close daddy and his little girl on her wedding day. And, truly, we think this would make a perfect gift for him too (on your wedding day or any other day you want to honor him).

So, to enter, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post explaining who you would give it to and why by Wednesday, July 29th at 11:59EST. And, three randomly selected entrants will be given copies of this beautiful hardcover.

Happy entering!

Wedding Feet

It probably won't surprise you to hear one of our favorite things about weddings: the shoes. You know and love and all that. But, in all seriousness, we know many a bride who has stressed over her shoe situation just as much (if not more!) than the dress.

So when Jenny from Wedding Feet e-mailed us about her site and blog, we were absolutely tickled. Essentially, Wedding Feet is a collection of some of the cutest bridal shoes from around the web. The site not only has her fabulous blog, but also a discussion board entitled "Shoe Gossip" where participants can post questions with photos (like "which shoes match better with this dress?") and the like.

Honestly, we think it's a pretty brilliant idea. And, what bride wouldn't love a go-to shoe resource? Not to mention, Jenny's fabulous taste shines in some of the beauties she has posted. Check it out!

FROTH AND SPARKLE

Bulgarian designer Julia Kontogruni sculpts femininity and romance with a deft hand. The ultimate in 'Cinderella Dressing' volume and miles of fabric really create the look. The designer offers fully boned corsetry and decorates bodice and skirt with hand-bead Swarowski crystals . Each gown is a literal jewel. The rich sparkle organzas and bead treatments can be seen at closer inspection on her site.

We Love Letterpress

It's no secret: here at MasterPiece Weddings we are huge fans of letterpress. So, when the folks of Erickson Design and Lambert Letterpress sent over this recent job we could not help but swoon over it. And, of course, we thought you, dear readers, would enjoy it too.

Look at that detailing! And those brass brads? Gorgeous!

Loving that the RSVP address is letterpressed. Wow.

And the whole suite. Stunning, isn't it?

Major kudos to the folks at Erickson Design and Lambert Letterpress for another fabulous job.
